Starlite has become the cultural festival of reference in Europe with a daily programme that includes music, fashion, art, film and gastronomy opening its doors every day for a month with shows at the only club in the world inside a quarry. Its auditorium only counts with 2.200 seats to offer intimate and close concerts where the audience lives a unique experience with the stars. In addition, Starlite dedicates one night to philanthropy celebrating Starlite Gala hosted by Antonio Banderas, which has become the largest charity event in Spain.
In previous years, the festival brought together political, intellectual, athletes and celebrities with more than a hundred public figures, positioning it as one of the most significant social events of this country.
In just two years of existence, the international press has already listed it as one of the most important festivals of Europe, being compared to the Monte-Carlo Sporting Summer Festival.
The stage is surrounded by 60-meter-high rock walls, creating an intriguing, intimate environment for the 2,200 visitors, similar to a secret, hidden venue beneath the stars. It’s a little difficult to get to, but it’s well worth the effort. Except for VIPs, cars must be parked a mile away and attendees must be shuttled up and down the hill in minibuses.
Every year, the festival set is slightly different and must be reconstructed. Everything in this glitzy lounge and performance venue, right down to the last bottle of water, had to be transported up the hill to the former quarry, which is astounding logistically.
VIPs sit in “Bubble Boxes” (eight-seater boxes) behind and elevated above the 15 rows of seats in the main theater, where waiters serve refreshments during concerts.
STARLITE FESTIVAL 2021
Between June 18 and July 30, 2021, the Cantera de Nagüeles in Marbella will host the Starlite Festival 2021. Bonnie Tyler and Tom Jones have rescheduled their 2020 shows, while Lionel Richie has rescheduled for 2022.
The festival will be able to continue as it was in Summer 2020 due to the nature of the open air all-seated arena and adequate social distancing measures.
